Project Description: The Hand Gesture Teachable Machine is an innovative project by Pranali Velip, Barsharani Muduli and Hasti Patel from Shree Mahalasa Narayani High School, Verna. Designed to assist speech-impaired individuals, it translates hand gestures into speech or text using Teachable Machine and PictoBlox.
The system captures hand gestures via a webcam, trains an AI model with 1000+ samples per gesture, and integrates it into a block-based coding environment for real-time recognition. Users refer to a hand sign sheet, and Tobi, the AI assistant, detects and displays the corresponding letter, enabling effective communication.
This project highlights how machine learning enhances accessibility, bridging communication gaps for speech-impaired individuals. By fostering inclusivity and empowerment, it showcases technology’s potential to create a meaningful impact on society.
